$16,000 Awarded To Promote Three Local Events

The Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) recently awarded funds to help market three local events, with a focus on attracting visitors to the community.

The CVB’s board of directors approved the funding at their January meeting and checks were distributed in May. Funds are intended to be used to help with advertising and other marketing efforts.

Those receiving funds include:

Pioneer Playhouse, which received $8,000. The playhouse starts its 77th season on Friday, June 5 with “The Play That Goes Wrong,” which runs through June 27. “The Iron Baby Angel” is the second play, running from June 30-July 18.” Next up is “Boeing Boeing” from July 21-Aug. 8. The season wraps up Aug. 13-15 with “A Night of Elvis, Dolly and Loretta!”

The Great American Brass Band Festival, which received $5,000. For 2026, the festival will be held June 25-27, with performances on June 25 at Weisiger Park; June 26 at Shaker Village and Centre College; and on June 27 at Centre College.

The Boyle County Fair, which received $3,000. This year’s fair is being held in Danville from June 6-13.

The CVB budgets funds each year to help market and advertise local events to potential visitors. The CVB board reviews funding applications at their January and July meetings, deciding which applicants will receive funds and the amounts to be awarded.
