Boyle County tourism sees another record year in 2024

The economic impact of tourism in Boyle County continued its upward trend in 2024, reflecting strong visitor interest and the growing appeal of the area as a travel destination. According to data provided by Tourism Economics and commissioned by the Kentucky Department of Tourism, Boyle County generated $83.5 million in total
economic impact from tourism in 2024, marking an increase of 5.2% from 2023.

“For the third year in a row, Boyle County’s tourism industry has seen a noticeable increase in the impact of tourism on the local economy,” said Kendall Clinton, executive director of the Danville-Boyle County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “In 2021, total tourism spending in Boyle County was $71.93 million. Three years later it was $83.5 million, a more than $11 million increase in just three years. That says a lot about what Boyle County has to offer visitors and the hard work of the nearly 700 employees who play a role in supporting tourism here.”

In 2023, tourism spending in Boyle County totaled $79.4 million. The $4.1 million year- over-year increase from 2023 to 2024 highlights the positive momentum seen across the region as travelers continue to discover Boyle County’s rich history, vibrant arts scene, outdoor recreation, and culinary attractions.
In addition to overall spending, tourism supported 696 jobs in 2024, up from 671 jobs in 2023.

This growth in employment demonstrates the sector’s critical role in supporting local livelihoods. Labor income from tourism also rose to $19.8 million in 2024,
compared to $18.9 million the previous year.

    Tourism in Boyle County also generated $6.6 million in state and local taxes in 2024, an increase from $6.3 million in 2023. These tax revenues help support public services and infrastructure improvements that benefit both residents and visitors.
