Winter Break Camps offer activities for kids

Got grandkids visitng during the Christmas break? Or your own kids who might need something to do before classes start back?

The Art Center of the Bluegrass in Danville has a series of camps from Dec. 20-Jan. 6 that will give kids ages 6-11 something to do as 2024 winds down and 2025 begins.

All camps are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., held in our Art Lab Classroom at 409 W. Main Street in Danville, Kentucky. Registration is required at artcenterky.org/registration.

Camps will include:

Friday, December 20 – Elf Workshop Camp: Christmas Creations 

Get ready for a day of holiday creativity. Campers will craft their own unique Christmas ornaments, decorate stockings, and make thoughtful gifts to share with loved ones. This workshop is perfect for kids who want to spread holiday cheer through handmade creations.

Monday, December 23 – Santa’s Sweet Shop

Get festive with some cookie-decorating fun. Kids will learn to decorate delicious cookies fit for Santa himself while enjoying the magic of the season. Bring your holiday spirit and creativity to this sweet and tasty camp.

Thursday, December 26 – Santa on Vacation Camp

What does Santa do after Christmas? Campers will imagine and create fun crafts inspired by Santa’s post-holiday adventures. From tropical-themed crafts to reindeer relaxation art, this camp is all about fun and imagination after the big day.

Friday, December 27 – Winter Wonderland Art Camp

Explore the beauty of winter through art! Campers will create snowy landscapes, frosty crafts, and glittery winter-themed projects inspired by the season.

Monday, December 30 – Countdown to Creativity Camp

Celebrate the end of the year with a day full of fun, art, and New Year’s inspiration. Campers will create festive crafts like party hats, noisemakers, and 2024-themed art to ring in the new year with style and creativity.

As a special treat, kids can bring a stuffed animal to spend the night at the Art Center! They’ll get to pick up their furry friend the next day during our Kids Noon-Year’s Eve Celebration and see all the fun their stuffed animals had overnight.

Thursday, January 2: New Year, New Art

Kick off the new year with creativity. Kids will create vision boards, 2024-themed crafts, and personalized art projects to celebrate fresh beginnings.

Friday, January 3 – Arctic Adventure Camp

Dive into the icy world of the Arctic. Campers will create polar bear sculptures, penguin paintings, and other frosty crafts inspired by the animals of the North.

Monday, January 6 – Magical Winter Tales Camp

Celebrate the magic of winter with crafts inspired by fairy tales and folklore. Think snowy castles, enchanted forests, and mythical creatures brought to life through art.
