The Spirit of Bourbon will take place Thursday, September 26, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at CentreWorks (236 W. Main Street, Danville, KY 40422). Tickets are first come, first serve and space is limited. This event is only open to ages 21+.
Dr. Lee Jefferson is a Rodes Associate Professor of Religion at Centre College and is researching on the foodways and bourbonways of Kentucky and the religious impact of food in the South. He will be moderating and leading our panel of experts through an exciting discussion on the history, science, business, and policy of bourbon.
Dixon Dedman, who has been described as one of the most prolific whiskey blenders, will speak about the history of bourbon and the nuances among whiskey taste profiles.
Dr. Lenny Demoranville is a Centre College Chemistry professor that has been teaching students how to use science and chemistry to answer the question “what is the best way to drink bourbon” and will be sharing his knowledge with our audience.
Adam Johnson ’97 is the Kentucky Distillers’ Association’s Vice President of State Relations and has seen the passion for bourbon grow from a local phenomenon to a global sensation. Adam will share his expertise on the business of bourbon and the policies surrounding it.
Ashley Hinton is the Director of Health Promotion for Centre College’s Student Life Office. Ashley serves as the program manager for the recently formed Responsible Alcohol and Substance Misuse Education Coalition serving Colleges and Universities across the state of Kentucky. Ashley will be sharing her experience on educating groups and individuals on the responsible conduct surrounding alcohol.
The Spirit of Bourbon will conclude with a one-of-a-kind bourbon tasting from Dixon Dedman’s 2XO collection. Dixon will walk the audience through the different flavors and notes of each tasting as Lee Jefferson opens the floor for questions and comments from the audience.
Doors open at 4:45 p.m. with the event beginning just after 5:00 p.m. Centre’s “Old Centre” bourbon cocktail will be served with heavy hors d’oeuvre.
