Food, entertainment, family fun on tap at Perryville Commemoration

Perryville, Kentucky, is no ordinary Kentucky town. It is distinct because it is the site of one of the most significant battles of the American Civil War—the Battle of Perryville, which took place on October 8, 1862. Each year the community comes together to commemorate the battle that took place and honor the soldiers that the battle claimed.

The Perryville Commemoration Festival returns this weekend, October 6th and 7th. You can come experience history, community, entertainment, and family fun this weekend in Perryville.

Living History Exhibits: For those who want a hands-on experience, this festival features living history exhibits. Step into the shoes of a Civil War soldier, learn about medical practices of the time, and see period-appropriate crafts and trades in action. Explore period clothing and historic displays in the Main Street Museum.

Artisan Vendors: Local artisans and craftsmen set up shop, offering a diverse array of handmade goods, artwork, and souvenirs. It’s the perfect opportunity to pick up unique keepsakes to remember your visit.

Food and Entertainment: Find delicious food from one of several food trucks and vendors. You can enjoy smokey BBQ, classic favorites, and indulgent desserts. If you are feeling lucky enter to win one of 3 raffles throughout the day Saturday or compete in the cornhole tournament. Keep your eyes out for a street fight, performed by reenactors. Also enjoy live music throughout the festival.

Fun for the whole family: This years’ festival will host a new children’s event. Kids 3-10 years old can participate in the festival’s newest event The Pullin’ in Perryville Pedal Truck Pull. Make sure to stop by “Kids Corner” where kids can enjoy inflatables, play games, and do crafts.
