Danville will experience the magic of Irish music this week as part of the Danville Sister Cities Music Exchange.
Danville and Carrickfergus, Ireland became sister cities through the Sister City International program in 2007 and since then hundreds of residents from both cities have participated through exchanges of artists, government officials, musicians, librarians, group tours, and sports teams with more planning to participate in the exchange program this spring.
Through this exchange, three talented Irish musicians will be playing at various locations from November 8th through November 12th, including Rowan Leslie, Sean Doone, and Michael McCluskey.
Everyone is invited to “A Grand Evening of Irish Pub Music” at Morley’s Backyard on November 9th from 7-9 p.m. This event, open to the public, will feature a fusion of Irish and local talent, including Travis Kern, Conrad Shiba, and Shane White who just returned from Carrickfergus where they stayed and performed.

The Irish musicians will spread their musical joy on November 10th to Danville and Boyle County students at Gravely Hall at Danville High School. They will also perform for preschoolers at the Danville-Boyle County Public Library and the Rotary Club at noon. In the evening, they’ll enchant the audience at The Still. Catch them at Dry Stack Coffee at 12:30 p.m., Mapletree Place cul-de-sac at 4 p.m., and Gypsy Run Brewery after 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, November 12th, their final day in Danville, the group will perform as part of the 11 a.m. service at the Presbyterian Church of Danville, concluding their musical journey in the city on a spiritual note.
