Tourism office launches new website

If you are reading this post, you are already on the Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office’s website, but you may not know that this is a brand new site that went live on Jan. 16, replacing the former website that was found at this same address.
While the old website had plenty of information about things to see and do, lodging, places to eat and more, the new website expands on that and adds new categories of information and offers a more user-friendly experience.
Click around on the website and you will find:

  • An expansion of restaurant listings by category so that every restaurant in Danville and Boyle County is included, from fast food to locally owned eateries to chain sit down restaurants. Those listings include links to restaurants’ websites and social media, phone numbers and map information. If you are using your mobile phone and don’t know how to find a particular restaurant – or any business with a listing on the website – just click on the red pin on the map with the listing and get directions from wherever you are.
  • An events page that contains a calendar with other useful information, like details about upcoming performances at the Norton Center and Pioneer Playhouse, live music scheduled at venues around town, local festivals and many other happenings that might be of interest to visitors and local residents.
  • The addition of a page listing all the local venues where people can host a meeting, social event or other gathering. This is paired with the wedding venues page that was found on the former website.
  • A new “Experiences” page, where ideas for various themed tours and visits are offered. That page, like most other pages on the website, will continue to grow and be expanded to include new experience recommendations.
  • A transportation page. If you are visiting Danville and don’t have an automobile to drive, you can find options here, including ways to get to and from Lexington, around the local area and for tours at distilleries and other locations of interest in the area.
  • Live music venues. Thinking of going out for the evening to hear a band or singer? This page lists all of the local venues that host live music.

Along with the new features, the website also lists local lodging options, broken down by hotels, Bed & Breakfast venues, online vacation rentals and campgrounds. There are pages with information about local shopping, opportunities for learning about local history, ways to engage with the local art scene, outdoor activities to enjoy and more.

The tourism office’s new website was built by Kentucky-based Red Pixel Studios, which works with a variety of businesses and industries, including several other tourism offices around the state. All content on the website is gathered, uploaded and managed by staff at the Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office. The website is mobile friendly, so searching it from your smartphone is just as easy as it is from a computer.
