Tourism Office sponsoring Pumpkins in the Park Oct. 25-31

Constitution Square will have a festive feel in late October as dozens (maybe hundreds) of pumpkins are put on display during the first ever Pumpkins in the Park contest.

Local students, adults, organizations and businesses are welcome to participate in this pumpkin decorating endeavour, sponsored by the Danville-Boyle County Tourism Office. Anybody is welcome to decorate a pumpkin with paint or applique, with a seasonal and family-friendly design. No carved pumpkins will be permitted. All entries will be put on display at Governors Circle at Constitution Square from Oct. 25-31 and the public is welcomed and encouraged to come discover and enjoy this local display of artistic talent.

Those interested in having a Pumpkins in the Park entry can stop by the visitors center at Constitution Square to pick up an entry form or request one by email at candace@historicdanvilleky.com. Drop off for all entries will be 2-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25. A panel of three judges will select their favorites in the following categories: elementary, middle and high school students; adult; and businesses.

Winners in each of the five categories will receive a $25 DanvilleKY gift card, which can be used at 40 different shops and restaurants in and around Danville and Boyle County.

“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to display their creativity and add to the fun fall atmosphere in Danville,” said Candace Arnold, executive assistant at the Danville-Boyle County Tourism
Office. “We hope that this can be the beginning of an annual pumpkin decorating event in Danville.
