Downtown Danville will be abuzz with activity on Saturday, Dec. 7 during the return of the Danville Small Town Christmas event, which will stretch from Constitution Square to Weisiger Park.
There are activities planned from 10 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. to get locals and visitors alike in the Christmas spirit. From free hot chocolate and cookies to bounce houses, train rides, ornament decorating and more, kids and adults will all find plenty to see and do throughout the afternoon, leading up to the annual Christmas parade.
Events happening include:
10 a.m. – Pictures with Santa at the Boyle County Public Library
12-5 p.m. – Downtown vendors village at Constitution Square and Weisiger Park
12-5 p.m. – Food trucks at Constitution Square
12 p.m. until parade ends – Food trucks at Main and Fourth streets
12-5 p.m. – Downtown Small Town Christmas activities, including: free cookies and hot chocolate, Danville Polar Express (trackless train), face painting, gingerbread bounce house, letters to soldiers, live music, ornament and stocking decorating, Santa bounce house, Santa and Mrs. Claus.
12-5 p.m. – Story Center at Grayson’s Tavern
3:30 p.m. – Storytime with the Grinch at Plaid Elephant Books
4 p.m. – Pictures with Santa and the Grinch at ROC Martial Arts Academy
6:30 p.m. – Parade starting at College/Main streets and ending at 2nd/Main streets. Grand marshalls will be Mayor James “J.H.” Adkins and Judge Executive Trille Bottom. Guests of honor will be Santa and Mrs. Claus.
After the parade – The celebration continues at Morley’s Backyard, with live music and another appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
In case of rain, the Danville Small Town Christmas events will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 instead.
