You’ll find Danville 36 miles from the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington and easily accessible from I-64 and I-75.
Danville and Boyle County have a long film history, from the epic 1957 movie Raintree County starring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift to the 2019 Netflix film Rust Creek, with many other film projects along the way.

Danville-Boyle County Airport – The airport is a public-use airport in south Danville that is home to 6 tenants, including Air Evac, Ghost Writer Airshows, Flight Level Services, and the Civil Air Patrol. The airport has T-hangars and corporate hangars, fuel service and an administrative building with a lounge, conference room and kitchen. The airport hosted a balloon festival in 2024 and has been the site of other aviation-related events.
Wilderness Trail Distillery – Locally-founded bourbon distillery now owned by Campari. Located in Danville on a 168-acre campus, with a distillery building, multiple rickhouses, a small pond, and an old farmhouse used for administrative offices.
Centre College – More than 200-year-old college campus in Danville, with a mix of historic buildings and modern, state of the art facilities. Filmmakers can find a library, coffee shop, classrooms, an old Carnegie library, office and classroom space, large outdoor green space, science labs, a student center and dining halls, and new sports fields and facilities.

Norton Center for the Arts – Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts is the premier performing arts venue in Danville, designed by William Wesley Peters of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin Associated Architects. Home to the stunning 1,476-seat Newlin Hall and the intimate 367-seat Wesiger Theatre, the Norton Center hosts world-class performances ranging from Broadway tours to world-renowned musicians. With its distinctive architectural design and commitment to bringing artistic excellence to Central Kentucky, the Norton Center serves as a cultural hub for both Centre College and the surrounding community.
Boyle County Public Library – The library is more than 100 years old. The building has had several additions over the years, giving it varying periods of styles inside, from the formal feel in the original structure with high ceilings and fireplaces, to a more modern asthetic with a large glass art installation in the main foyer.
Art Center of the Bluegrass/GLASS National Art Museum – The art center encompasses two buildings – including a former Federal Building that is now the GLASS National Art Museum. They have an art studio, ceramic studio, gift shop and cafe, with plans for a ballroom, rooftop bar and a glassblowing studio.
Boogie Knight’s (restaurant/bar) – Kitschy 70’s craft cocktail and bourbon bar serving late night eats from scratch in downtown Danville.
Bricks & Brews (resraurant/bar) – This is a downtown Danville restaurant/bar with a sidewalk seating area out front.
Copper & Oak (restaurant/bar) – Copper & Oak serves gourmet meals and craft cocktails inside their downtown Danville building, which has hardwood floors, exposed bricks walls, a copper-topped bar, and sidewalk seating out front.
Morley’s Backyard (restaurant/bar) – Former tire shop, now neighborhood craft brewery/restaurant. Two large roll up garage doors out front. Industrial look inside. Large outdoor space on the side and around back. Outdoor stage
Wine Seller/Communion Cafe (wine bar/restaurant) – Wine Seller and Communion Café are Danville’s most-curated wine shop that also serves up “small plates.” Located in the basement of a grand former church building in downtown Danville with a unique courtyard area facing Third Street.
Millennium Park – Largest of 7 parks in Danville. There is a small fishing lake, 2-mile walking/jogging trail, dog park, skate park, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, playground and lots of green space.
Constitution Square Historic Site – This is a 3 acre historic site where Kentucky’s constitution was written. It has cabins and other historic structures on the property.
Historic Merchants Row in Perryville – Along the west bank of the Chaplin River in Perryville is a collection of historic buildings that date back to before the Civil War. The buildings now house a variety of local businesses, from an antique store to local boutiques to an Airbnb. Great setting for period filming.
Jacobs Hall Museum – This National Historic Landmark was a 19th-century dormitory on the campus of the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville. It now houses a museum dedicated to the deaf school and deaf community. Interior and exterior provide opportunity for a variety of scenes from various time periods.
McDowell House Museum and Apothecary – This National Historic Landmark was a 19th-century dormitory on the campus of the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville. Penn’s Store (1850s country store) – This National Historic Landmark was a 19th-century dormitory on the campus of the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville. Pioneer Playhouse – Operated by the same family for 75+ years, Pioneer Playhouse is the oldest outdoor theatre in Kentucky. There is an outdoor stage that seats 400, an indoor stage that seats 250, a pioneer village and other unique features that allow for a variety of filming options.
Warrenwood Manor – Warrenwood Manor is a rural estate on 100-acres of rolling hills in Danville, Kentucky. The centerpiece of the estate is a charming Greek revival home with a gothic exterior that was completed in 1856. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home exudes charm and character. Beyond the house sits a restored early 1900’s black barn and several outbuildings. Since 2014, the property has operated as a wedding and events venue.
Dry Stack Coffee Shop – Roastery/coffee bar on Main Street in downtown Danville, Kentucky. Hardwood floors. Open space.

Cerci on Main (boutique shopping) – Cerci is a boutique store location on Main Street in downtown Danville. The building has hardwood floors and exposed brick interior walls.
Elmwood Inn Fine Teas – Gourmet tea shop in downtown Danville, selling teas, books, teapots and tea wares from around the world.
Mapletree Gallery – Downtown Danville art, framing, home décor and more shop, located inside an early 1900s building with rugged hardwood floors, high stamped tin ceilings and a picturesque storefront window that is great for any scene needing a storefront display.

Centre College Football Stadium – College football stadium at Centre College in Danville, completely rebuilt/renovated in 2023. Perfect for shooting scenes to look like small college or high school football or track.
Champion Hall at Centre College – New facility at Centre College in Danville, which includes a pool, diving well, field house and glass lobby
Old Bridge Golf Course – A 6,648 yard public 18 hole golf course in Danville, adjacent to a nice neighborhood with houses overlooking the course. There is a clubhouse with a pro shop and bar/grill.
West T. Hill Community Theatre – A cozy off broadway theatre that hosts a variety of plays and special events throughout the year. Located in downtown Danville.
Downtown Danville – Quaint downtown streetscape in a busy area with a number of local restaurants, shops and other businesses.
