On Saturday, July 11, at 1 p.m., Forkland Community Center and the Boyle County Public Library are sponsoring a program at FCC by Dr. Gwynn Henderson. Dr. Henderson is the Education Director at the Kentucky Archaeological Survey, at Western Kentucky University’s Department of Society, Culture, Crime & Justice Studies.
This presentation will describe the long tradition of Native farming practices, drawing on archaeological research conducted in Kentucky, informed by ethnographic and ethnohistoric sources. Anyone with an interest in Kentucky history, Native Americans, and/or gardening and farming should find the talk very interesting. It will be held in the cafeteria at Forkland Community Center with free posters (“Kentucky Before Boone”), free bookmarks, and free Native American seed. The Forkland Lincoln Museum and Gift Shop will be open both before and after the presentation.
