Licia Priest – Layered Reflections Opening Reception at the Art Center of the Bluegrass

This body of work showcases research done in Zimbabwe. I documented food, flora, fauna, architecture, city, rural family life, and their view and care of the elderly. My focus is on dispelling perceived views of Africa and showing the realities that exist to bridge the cultural gap. Sadly, historically the focus has been on the differences with a negative lens. This body of work causes you to focus on similarities and shared experiences, while savoring the uniqueness of each subject portrayed.
