Dr. Jonas Hurley will present a discussion on the exhibit “The Art of War” at Lunch with the Arts – our FREE series of discussions with artists and collectors.
This powerful exhibit explores how artists have responded to the brutality, heroism, and heartbreak of war throughout history.
Jonas and Julie Hurley, as well as two anonymous local collectors, have provided the artwork for the show, which includes Bronze Age weapons and ornate ceremonial regalia, prints by Goya, Kollwitz, and Rockwell, ancient Celtic axes, WWI propaganda posters, Holocaust-era works, and more.
Spanning centuries and continents, these objects and images reflect the complex and enduring human response to war. August 5 – September 24 in our Main Exhibit Hall
