Our Civil Wars: Load in Nine Times

OUR CIVILS WARS is a look at the contributions of Kentucky’s Black soldiers during the Civil War, through the lens of Frank X Walker’s 2024 remarkable book of poetry, LOAD IN NINE TIMES. Walker will read from his book and participate in a panel discussion led by Dr. David R. Swartz that includes Steve T. Phan from the Camp Nelson National Monument, historian Dr. Benjamin Fitzpatrick, and author Dr. Kristine Yohe.
 
Frank X Walker is one of the leading literary voices in Appalachia, a 1979 Danville High School graduate, and the 26th Poet Laureate of Kentucky. To learn more about him and his work, go to www.frankxwalker.com.
 
This event kicks off Boyle County’s year-long America 250 celebration of our nation’s semiquincentennial anniversary.
 
OUR CIVIL WARS will be presented in Gravely Hall at Danville High School, Tuesday, March 3, at 7pm. Tickets are free.
