There are big plans to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary throughout 2026 in Danville and Boyle County, with a Fourth of July weekend lineup that kicks off with a free concert by Montgomery Gentry featuring Eddie Montgomery.
On Friday, July 3, Montgomery will take the stage at 7 p.m. at Millennium Park in Danville to perform their many hits for the crowd while also honoring America’s momentous milestone.
Montgomery – a Danville native – has one of the most recognizable voices in a generation of country singers. With five No. 1 country radio hits, a Grand Ole Opry membership and a Kentucky Music Hall of Fame induction under his belt as part of Montgomery Gentry, the man in the hat shows no signs of slowing down.
“I’m livin’ life,” Montgomery said. “I’m so happy that I gotta sit on my hands to keep ‘em from wavin’ at everybody.”

His latest album Home Run debuted Nov. 1 via Average Joes Entertainment in the fall of 2024. Ahead of the release, Montgomery unleashed a 25th anniversary edition of “Hillbilly Shoes,” a signature country-rocker originally released as Montgomery Gentry’s first single and the opening track of the duo’s debut album Tattoos & Scars.
The song comes as part of a promise Montgomery and his partner Troy Gentry once made to each other – if one of them ever passed away, the other would carry on the Montgomery Gentry legacy. Sadly, Gentry died in a 2017 helicopter crash.
You can come hear Montgomery’s stories yourself as he kicks off a Fourth of July weekend that includes a patriotic parade at 11 a.m, in downtown Danville on July 4, a long rifle shooting competition that afternoon, and a Fourth of July family and fireworks event starting at 5 p.m. that night.
Additional details about Montgomery’s concert – including parking and other logistical information – will be released closer to the concert date.
